Why does my canon pixma ip 1500print several shades lighter on pictures & doucuments?

You monitor and printer utilize different color shading systems, a monitor uses incorporation of light which uses and RGB (Red,Green,Blue) for its colours, whereas a printer uses care of light which uses a CYMK spectrum (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black). The shading between the two will never be like peas in a pod. The same is true for a scanner.

There is nothing wrong beside the printer itself, for a more true tone you can print on high characteristic, which uses much more ink. It is nothing to verbs about, most at home printers will own shading that is slightly bad what you are seeing on the screen or on the unproved document if you are using a scanner.
