Why do you have need of to use MICR toner to print checks?

MICR characters are printed next to a magnetic ink or toner. Magnetic printing is used so that the characters can be reliably read into a system, even when they enjoy been overprinted near other marks such as see stamps. The characters are read with a device similar surrounded by nature to the leader of an audio tape recorder, and the letterforms' bulbous shapes insure that respectively letter produces a imaginative waveform for the read head.
MICR have metallic particles within it so machines can read the account information along the bottom of the check. Those funny shaped numbers along the bottom :)

I know that used to be the bearing it was, but I thought I have heard lately that MICR is not required any more. You may want to ask a banker.
Banks use Optical Character Recognition Software to read checks the fascinating toner makes the ocr one and only read the ink and the fonts make it easier to read.
